Aims and Objectives

Throughout the duration of the project the focus of the team has been to discover what lessons can be learned from the industrial standard building delivery process and to produce a new and unique methodology which will benefit the university of Strathclyde's Estates Management during the building delivery process of the new TIC building project and to provide valuble support in the aftercare stages. This new and unique process can then also benefit the building services industry as a whole.

The main aim of this project is to analyse the current UK building design and delivery process to identify potential areas of improving energy performance
This entails:

  • • To ascertain whether a selected Architectural and Building Services design brief has been met through analysis of BMS data, surveying building users and independently measuring selected parameters.
  • • Identify any building performance problems/challenges
  • • Create a dynamic simulation model to independently assess the performance of critical areas within the selected building structure
  • • Propose solutions to address these specific issues but more importantly address the wider issue of how to improve future building delivery and performance in the UK.
  • • Identify lessons learned
